Basketball Recap: Sophia Navarijo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Providence Catholic over St. Augustine

Providence Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 42nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 51-40 to the St. Augustine Knights. The Provets were probably out for revenge after losing 42-17 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Providence Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Navarijo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isabella Otero, who posted eight points.

Providence Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-25. As for St. Augustine, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Providence Catholic has already played their next contest (against St. Augustine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Augustine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-38 loss against Saint Mary's Hall on the 22nd.
