Baseball Recap: Plattsmouth Triumphs

Plattsmouth took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Warriors 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Warriors back in April, they had to take a 26-11 loss.

Derek Nanke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Plattsmouth is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Plattsmouth saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Walker, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Walker has posted since back in April. Another was Cody Demboski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Plattsmouth's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10. As for Wahoo/Bishop Neumann, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Plattsmouth will square off against rival Lincoln Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wahoo/Bishop Neumann is set to challenge their familiar foe Platteview at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
