Basketball Recap: Chase Takes a Loss

Chase was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of the East Rutherford Cavaliers. The Trojans lost against the Cavaliers in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-13 score last time.

East Rutherford was led to victory by Faith Smith and Zilah Dewberry. Smith posted nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Dewberry put up seven points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Dewberry a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Garryn Thompson, who had six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Chase's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for East Rutherford, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-6.

Chase will take on Burns in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Rutherford, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-38 loss against Queen's Grant on the 14th.
