Baseball Game Preview: Neah-Kah-Nie Pirates vs. Warrenton Warriors

The Neah-Kah-Nie Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Warrenton Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Neah-Kah-Nie earned a 7-4 win over Corbett.

Meanwhile, Warrenton waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Talon McGrorty made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Warrenton let Tyson McGrorty and Blake Tingstrom run wild. McGrorty scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Tingstrom scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Tingstrom a new career-high in RBI (three).

Warrenton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Warrenton pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Neah-Kah-Nie, their record is now 2-5-1.

Neah-Kah-Nie might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Warrenton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
