Basketball Recap: East Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against Greene County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Central). They took down the Greene County Wildcats 86-67 on Monday. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 58-40 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

East Central was led to victory by Brody Howard and Zane Ramassini. Howard shot 55% from beyond the arc to rack up 29 points, while Ramassini dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Howard's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Maryland, who went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points and seven assists.

East Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They are 2-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Despite the loss, Greene County still got an impressive performance from Javon Watts, who shot 48% from the field on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordarius Molten, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 12 points along with six assists and three steals.

East Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Greene County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

East Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-55 loss against George County on the 25th. As for Greene County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-37 victory against Perry Central on the 25th.
