Softball Game Preview: Sweet Home Panthers vs. Orchard Park Quakers

The Sweet Home Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Orchard Park Quakers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Sweet Home came up short against Williamsville South and fell 5-1.

Orchard Park came out on top against West Seneca West on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Quakers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warhawks a 7-0 shutout. The Quakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Ava Farina's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Hernandez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lainey Babich, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Orchard Park's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Sweet Home, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Sweet Home suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Orchard Park when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
