Basketball Recap: Temescal Canyon Comes Up Short

Temescal Canyon fought the good fight in their overtime match against Elsinore on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elsinore Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), the Titans still had to take the loss.

Elsinore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nasir Bates, who went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamrynn Nathan, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points.

Temescal Canyon's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 19-7. As for Elsinore, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Temescal Canyon and Elsinore should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Temescal Canyon (ranked 404th) will meet Tahquitz (ranked 1247th) at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Elsinore will face off against San Jacinto at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 444 places (434 vs. 878).
