Softball Game Preview: Cotter Warriors vs. Mountainburg Dragons

The Cotter Warriors will square off against the Mountainburg Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cotter has four straight wins, Mountainburg has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cotter barely beat Marshall the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bobcats on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Myah McNutt made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cotter let Kenzie Graham and Paige Meis run wild. Graham scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Meis scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Those two hits gave Graham a new career-high. Jadyn Tucker was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mountainburg came up short against Hector on Monday, falling 18-5.

Cotter's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Mountainburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
