Basketball Game Preview: New Brockton Gamecocks vs. Geneva Panthers

The New Brockton Gamecocks will venture away from home to take on the Geneva Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, New Brockton came up short against Straughn and fell 51-42. The Gamecocks have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Geneva entered their tilt with Dale County on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Warriors, posting a 53-21 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Warriors are ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Geneva's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points per game. As for New Brockton, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

New Brockton came up short against Geneva in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 58-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Geneva's Kaden Ward, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds.
