Basketball Recap: Indianapolis Shortridge Takes a Loss

Indianapolis Shortridge lost against Greenfield-Central back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils were outmatched by the Greenfield-Central Cougars and fell 79-46. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Cougars are ranked ninth).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Lowery, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five boards. That's the most assists Lowery has posted since back in January of 2024. Thomas Campbell was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 12 points.

Braylon Mullins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greenfield-Central, going 15 for 21 en route to 37 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Mullins has scored at least a third of Greenfield-Central's points. Boston Willard also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Indianapolis Shortridge and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Greenfield-Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Shortridge will welcome Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. One thing working in Indianapolis Arsenal Technical's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Greenfield-Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Greenfield-Central sitting on five straight victories and Shelbyville on four.
