Recap: Basic Wolves vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Basic Wolves had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They managed a 50-45 victory over the Mountain Lions. The win made it back-to-back wins for Basic.

Basic was led to victory by Natasha Harrison and Tatum Meatoga-Ubiam. Harrison dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Meatoga-Ubiam scored 15 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Azana Smith, who scored four points along with four steals.

Despite the defeat, Sierra Vista saw an underclassman step up: Donnayja Gibson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Gibson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaya Duckworth, who scored 13 points along with four steals.

Even though they lost, Sierra Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Basic only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Basic's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11. As for Sierra Vista, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6.

Basic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-40 loss vs. Canyon Springs on the 15th. Sierra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
