Baseball Recap: New Berlin West Takes a Loss

New Berlin West was the 7-4 winner over Greendale when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered against the Panthers since May 17, 2021.

Rocco Conrad was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Jonah Kopischke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Nathan Hinek also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

New Berlin West's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Greendale, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Coming up, New Berlin West will take on Martin Luther at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Greendale, they will face off against Whitnall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for the Panthers: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Falcons have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
