Baseball Recap: Boone's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Olympia, Boone was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Freedom Patriots 8-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Kurtis Harper tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Liam Graham and CJ Nassar did most of the damage at the plate: Graham scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Nassar scored a run while going 3-for-5. That run marked the first that Nassar scored this season. Another player making a difference was Micah Arroyo, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Boone picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Freedom, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone will welcome Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Boone will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Freedom, they will be playing at home against Cheshire Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
