Basketball Game Preview: Point Pleasant Big Blacks vs. Portsmouth West Senators

The Point Pleasant Big Blacks will challenge the Portsmouth West Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Point Pleasant ended up a good deal behind Marietta and lost 66-51. While losing is never fun, the Big Blacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 459th in West Virginia, while the Tigers are ranked 98th in Ohio).

Meanwhile, Portsmouth West entered their contest against Valley on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Portsmouth West fell just short of Valley by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Senators have suffered since January 12, 2024.

Point Pleasant's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-5. As for Portsmouth West, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
