Baseball Recap: Lucy Beckham Takes Down Irmo in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lucy Beckham walked away with it. They never let the Irmo Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Thursday.

Hunter Doyle tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lucy Beckham is 7-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Roggin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kingston Kolb was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lucy Beckham is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Irmo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.

As of now, neither Lucy Beckham nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
