Basketball Game Preview: Queensbury Spartans vs. Mohonasen Warriors

The Queensbury Spartans will take on the Mohonasen Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Queensbury is headed into Monday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They fell 52-42 to Guilderland on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Queensbury got top-tier performance from Shea Canavan, who went 8-for-18 on her way to 20 points and five steals. Canavan has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 41 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayla Zehr, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Queensbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mohonasen also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Troy by a score of 49-40. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Flying Horses recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Queensbury's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Mohonasen, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Queensbury strolled past Mohonasen in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 62-47. Does Queensbury have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mohonasen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
