Basketball Recap: Shelby-Rising City Comes Up Short

Shelby-Rising City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Osceola Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 50-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Shelby-Rising City lost, don't look at Taya Pinneo. Despite the final result, she posted 24 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Pinneo's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Kaleigh Ruth was another key player, putting up ten points.

Bella Recker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Osceola, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 20 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Recker a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Addison Theis, who went 9-for-20 to rack up 21 points and seven boards.

Shelby-Rising City's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Osceola, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

As of now, neither Shelby-Rising City nor Osceola have any future games scheduled.
