Softball Recap: Deep Creek Starts Season with Win on the Road

Deep Creek had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the King's Fork Bulldogs 14-1 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Larah Fray made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Fray was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Deep Creek got a big performance out of Hailey Lack, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Hannah Liddell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

King's Fork now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deep Creek will head out to take on First Colonial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for King's Fork, they will head out on the road to challenge Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
