Baseball Recap: Hartford Snags 12th Victory in Last 14 Games

Hartford was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cedarburg on Monday. The Orioles were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The Orioles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Jack Perkowski tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ethan Birkel was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Brady Helms was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Hartford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hartford is set to square off against their familiar foe Grafton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orioles 3.6, the Black Hawks 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cedarburg will challenge rival West Bend West at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
