Softball Recap: Tenafly Tigers vs. Cresskill Cougars
Tenafly had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it six. They came up short against the Cresskill Cougars, falling 13-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.
Emily Hobaichan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. J'Lyn De Jesus Bermudez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Cresskill, the win got them back to even at 6-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.
On Cresskill's side, Sophia Coleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. Coleman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Caitlin Mcgee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Bross, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tenafly will welcome Eastside at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cresskill, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Emerson at 4:15 p.m.
