Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. New Albany

The Lafayette Commodores are taking a road trip to challenge the New Albany Bulldogs at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

Lafayette is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Long Beach just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Saturday. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 1-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Commodores haven't been shut out since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, New Albany had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four two weeks ago. Their defense stepped up to hand the Indians a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by four goals or more so far this season.

New Albany's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three contests. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Lafayette suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to New Albany in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. Can Lafayette avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
