Baseball Recap: Vernon Hills Wins Going Away Against Maine East

Vernon Hills never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Maine East Blue Demons as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Blue Demons: they've now won four in a row.

Robert Miller tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Vernon Hills: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Connor Brockway was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Dugan, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Vernon Hills' record is now 6-12. As for Maine East, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Vernon Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Demons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
