Softball Recap: Monterey Falls Short of Salinas in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Monterey can now relate to. They fell just short of the Salinas Cowboys by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss last Wednesday.

Ella Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastin Jennings made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Monterey's loss dropped their record down to 19-5-1. As for Salinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Monterey nor Salinas have any future games scheduled.
