Football Game Preview: Newman Central Catholic Comets vs. Rockridge Rockets

The Newman Central Catholic Comets will square off against the Rockridge Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Last Friday, Newman Central Catholic made easy work of Orion and carried off a 40-14 win. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Chargers are ranked 282nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rockridge strolled past Erie with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 29-12.

Newman Central Catholic's record now sits at 4-0. As for Rockridge, their record is now an identical 4-0.

Newman Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Rockridge in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, winning 15-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
