Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Tupelo Golden Wave

The Clinton Arrows will face off against the Tupelo Golden Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Clinton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Madison Central.

Clinton let Stone Crain and Ethan Dodson run wild. Crain went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Dodson scored a run while going 2-for-3. Aaric Beasley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Tupelo faced Itawamba Agricultural in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Golden Wave took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.

Landon Swinney was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Clinton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Tupelo, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clinton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Tupelo struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Clinton might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Tupelo when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Arrows avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
