Softball Recap: Mona Shores' Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Mona Shores was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Rockford Rams. With that win, the Sailors brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jaslene McHenry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Raelyn Larry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Faught, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI.

Mona Shores' victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Rockford, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Mona Shores and Rockford will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Sailors see the field they'll take on Traverse City West at 4:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Rockford, their break will end when they face Byron Center at 4:15 p.m. on the 15th.
