Basketball Game Preview: Clifton Central Comets vs. La Salette Academy Lions

Having just played yesterday, the Clifton Central Comets will jump right back in to play the La Salette Academy Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Clifton Central had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Hoopeston on Friday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 51-29 margin over the Cornjerkers. The Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, La Salette Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 52-30 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 21-point advantage.

La Salette Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Clifton Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Clifton Central couldn't quite get it done against La Salette Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 as they fell 53-40. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
