Basketball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

The Hunt Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hunt has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Rocky Mount will come in with three straight victories.

On Wednesday, Hunt came up short against C.B. Aycock and fell 60-49.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tyler Pridgen, who posted ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Joyner, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Rocky Mount ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Hunt by a score of 70-63. 70 seems to be a good number for the Gryphons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Hunt better keep an eye on Anthony Jones. He was instrumental in Rocky Mount's win, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Jones a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Brelyn Moses, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points.

Hunt's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Rocky Mount, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hunt has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mount struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
