Baseball Game Preview: Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles vs. Orange Park Raiders

The Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Orange Park Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Paxon School For Advanced Studies is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Christ's Church Academy 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Dominic Craig looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Robert Bryson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Robert Ward, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Orange Park didn't have quite enough to beat Middleburg on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Corey Hopkins put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Hopkins was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies' record is now 14-7. As for Orange Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies came up short against Orange Park when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
