Basketball Recap: 16 Straight Home Wins for Wapahani

Wapahani waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 49-43 W against the Eastern Hancock Royals. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Royals, too.

Wapahani's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nate Luce, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Luce a new career-high. Eli Andrews was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

When it comes to explaining why Eastern Hancock lost, don't look at Kayden Ruble. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Ruble has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Schilling, who posted 11 points.

Wapahani pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points over those games. As for Eastern Hancock, their record is now 10-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wapahani will welcome Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
