Softball Recap: Lancaster Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Lancaster put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Seagoville Dragons 14-0. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sophia Zuniga made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Galilea Castillo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Jourinee Dillard was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Lancaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Lancaster's record is now 10-0. As for Seagoville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Lancaster has already played their next contest, a 7-4 loss against Terrell on the 22nd. Seagoville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Mesquite at 6:30 p.m. on March 4th. North Mesquite has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something Seagoville will no doubt try to take advantage of.
