Softball Recap: Brodhead Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

While Brodhead put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Evansville. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won seven in a row.

Ava Risum was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Rear, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Karli Krumwiede was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Brodhead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Brodhead's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Evansville, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brodhead will host Turner at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 1.9, the Trojans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Evansville, they will be playing at home against Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Crimson Tide at the right time seeing as the Crimson Tide are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
