The Valley Vikings''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-0 loss at the hands of Canyon Springs. Valley has struggled against Canyon Springs recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Dominick Hopkins threw for 114 yards on 13 of 28 attempts. Deion Brooks was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Elijay Lee rushed for 42 yards.
The team won by holding Valley to a paltry 196 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Canyon Springs' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Kion Thomas and Jeramie Johnson who racked up four sacks between them.
Valley's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Canyon Springs, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
