Baseball Recap: Findlay Extends Winning Streak to Five

Findlay extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping their season record up to 12-6 in the process. They never let the Clay Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Give the Trojans' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

As for Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Findlay since on Friday.

For Clay's part, they got a good showing from George Edwards, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Edwards has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Clay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Goetz, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Findlay and Clay should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 107th) will meet Central Catholic (ranked 353rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Clay will challenge Southview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (134 vs. 434).
