Baseball Recap: Wister Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Wister gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Warner Eagles. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Easton Turnipseed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jagger Dodson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dartyn Meeks, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Wister is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Warner, they now have a losing record of 10-11-2.

Coming up, Wister will be playing at home against Rattan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Warner, they are taking a road trip to face off against Eufaula at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Ironheads have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
