Basketball Recap: Ursuline Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Ursuline Academy can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They secured a 60-55 W over the Poly Engineers. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in Delaware, while the Engineers are ranked 73rd in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Poly's loss came despite strong showings from London Elliot and Brianna Pope. Elliot posted 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Pope almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Elliot is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The win got Ursuline Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Poly, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Ursuline Academy will face off against Caravel at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Poly, they will challenge McDonough on Monday. Poly is facing McDonough at the right time seeing as McDonough is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
