Basketball Game Preview: Shepherd Mustangs vs. Roundup Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Shepherd Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Roundup Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shepherd will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Shepherd is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Red Lodge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Shepherd blew Red Lodge out of the water with a 64-30 final score. With the Mustangs ahead 36-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Roundup took on Columbus on Saturday. Roundup was dealt a 61-12 defeat at the hands of Columbus.

Shepherd's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Roundup, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Shepherd against Roundup in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-21 victory. Will Shepherd repeat their success, or does Roundup have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
