Softball Recap: Varina Starts Season with Win at Home

Varina gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past Hopewell 19-18. Varina hasn't had any issues with Hopewell recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Julia Anderson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Rylee Geer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Varina will face off against Hermitage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hopewell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Henrico at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
