Baseball Recap: Durham's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Durham dropped their record down to 10-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Winters Warriors, falling 11-0. The shutout was out of character for the Trojans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Durham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ely Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Martinez has hit this season.

As for Winters, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On Winters' side, the team relied heavily on Everett Beason, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Beason a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Mariani, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durham will be taking part in a tournament against Biggs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winters, they will welcome Live Oak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Warriors' favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Lions have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
