Basketball Recap: Prospect Takes a Loss

The Prospect Knights were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Sunday as they fell 46-40 to the McDonogh Eagles. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Prospect lost, don't look at Allison Linke. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Linke is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Marling also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Prospect and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for McDonogh, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Prospect and McDonogh will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights are set to face off against their familiar foe Palatine at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, McDonogh will challenge rival St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
