Baseball Recap: Howell Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Kickapoo

Howell faced Kickapoo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Vikings fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 5-4. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Howell's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-10. As for Kickapoo, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Howell will host Howell Central at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.2, the Spartans 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Kickapoo, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Staley on the 2nd.
