Softball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 13-2 to the Ida Baker Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Ida Baker, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.

Looking ahead, Gateway will face off against Cypress Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ida Baker, they will welcome Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Wave have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
