Softball Game Preview: Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans vs. Alleman Pioneers

The Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Alleman Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell just short of Mercer County by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ella Humphrey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Kerigan Lewis was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

Humphrey wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Alleman gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Abingdon/Avon.

Alleman got a massive performance out of Kendall Possin, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Possin has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysa Brinkman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.

Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] came out on top in a nail-biter against Alleman in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. Does Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alleman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
