Football Recap: Somerset Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southside last Friday, Somerset came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell 22-10 to the McCollum Cowboys on Friday. The Bulldogs gained 94 more yards on the day, but it was the Cowboys that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Somerset lost, don't look at Malakai Iverson. Despite the final result, he picked up 102 receiving yards and one score.

Jordan Casares had a dynamite game For McCollum., rushing for 175 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Casares was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.

Somerset's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for McCollum, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset will head out to take on Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McCollum, they will venture away from home to face off against Floresville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
