Volleyball Recap: Columbia Falls Falls Short Against Ranked Polson

Columbia Falls faced Polson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Columbia Falls actually scored more points across those five sets (103-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-21, 17-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Columbia Falls saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Scholz had 33 digs and four assists. Those 33 digs set a new season-high mark for Scholz.

Leading Polson to victory were Rylee Taylor-Jefferson and Kendyl Jaeger. Taylor-Jefferson had four digs and two aces, while Jaeger had eight digs and two aces. Those eight digs gave Jaeger a new career-high.

Columbia Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1. As for Polson, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Columbia Falls wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Ronan on the 21st. As for Polson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Whitefish on the 21st.
