Basketball Recap: Hattiesburg HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Hattiesburg HomeSchool was the 67-59 winner over Laurel HomeSchool when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners lost 70-49 to the Laurel HomeSchool Knight Hawks on Monday.

Laurel HomeSchool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Laurel HomeSchool is 4-2 when Anderson posts eight or more rebounds, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Beech, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Laurel HomeSchool, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool will face off against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Laurel HomeSchool, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-56 win against Jackson HomeSchool on the 14th.
