Basketball Recap: River Bluff Gators vs. South Pointe Stallions

River Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the South Pointe Stallions and fell 70-19. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Stallions are ranked second).

Despite the loss, River Bluff saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jenna Johnson posted eight points and four blocks. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played.

Leading South Pointe to victory were Kaleigh Lucas and JaNyia Cunningham. Lucas dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals, while Cunningham went 9 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those ten steals gave Lucas a new career-high. Kemoni Hardy was another key player, putting up ten points.
