Flag Football Game Preview: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Elizabeth Cardinals

The Ponderosa Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Elizabeth Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ponderosa's offense hasn't had much luck over their past seven matchups, but Monday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ponderosa's offense might be in the hot seat on Monday considering what happened against Legend on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 33-0 loss at the hands of the Titans. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado flag football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Titans are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Elizabeth waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lancers 52-6. The Cardinals' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ponderosa better keep an eye on Lacy Antinora. She was instrumental in Elizabeth's win, throwing for 128 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. What's more, Antinora racked up 116.7 passer rating, the most she's had since back in September.

Elizabeth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Emma Guhl and Olivia Nelson were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Another thorn in Lincoln's side was Erika Hefty, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Ponderosa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Elizabeth, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Ponderosa barely slipped by Elizabeth in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, winning 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
