Football Recap: Pflugerville Beats Elgin for Their Third Straight Victory + How To Watch

Elgin came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Pflugerville, but Cole Taylor wouldn't allow it. The Panthers took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 55-20 victory over the Wildcats with plenty of help from Taylor, who threw for 286 yards and six TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Pflugerville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kurmar Shepard and Caleb Gaston. Kishan Ware was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

When it comes to explaining why Elgin lost, don't look at Jeremiah Nicholson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 132 yards and one score while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 22 yards and one touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Pflugerville, bringing their record up to 4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39 points. As for Elgin, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Pflugerville and McCallum will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. The Panthers will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Elgin, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Liberty Hill at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
