Volleyball Recap: Illinois Math & Science Academy Takes a Loss

Illinois Math & Science Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Timothy Christian Trojans. The Titans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Illinois Math & Science Academy may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 11 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-11.

Ibrahim Bah paced Illinois Math & Science Academy's offense, picking up three kills. Bah got some help from Sergey Tyan and his four assists. Tyan was also a major player on defense: he and Nicholas Mohyla shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Illinois Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Timothy Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Illinois Math & Science Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Edward at 6:15 p.m. on May 9. As for Timothy Christian, they have already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Hoffman Estates on the 12th.
